Q:
Is any kind of previous experience necessary to join a class?
A: No,
definitely not, and you can join in on any class any time. Just make sure you
arrive at least 10 minutes before a class starts if it’s your first class
(otherwise it holds everybody up).
Q: I am not a great dancer but would like to explore SalsaDancercise® as a way to exercise, please advise?
A: You don’t have to be a good
dancer to participate, that’s not what Salsa Dancercise® is about. It’s about your having fun as well as getting
the benefits of fitness and recreation. From an exercise point of view, it’s in
your interest that moves are challenging, and some of them are, but SalsaDancercise® is also designed so that you can go at a pace you personally
feel comfortable with at all times.
Q: How much is it going to
cost me?
A: You’ll be please to know SalsaDancercise is very
inexpensive. Also there are no contracts or commitments. Most people are paying
on average between $4 to $5 a class. (Exact pricing will depend on a number of
things such as how many classes you’d like to attend, whether you paid for a
month, bought a pass card or paid a drop in fee, a drop in fee being the most
expensive at $10.) You should try it out first, that way you can see what
you're getting, and then be in a better position on where you’d like to take it
from there. Rest assured, SalsaDancercise provides excellent value.
Q: How fit do I have to be
to participate. Is SalsaDancercise® appropriate for out-of-shape
middle-aged women also?
A: You don’t have to be that fit at
all to participate. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a non-exerciser, or a
habitual exerciser, SalsaDancercise is for everyone. As long as you don’t have
life threatening ailments or health conditions that would be aggravated or
worsened if you participated in any exercise, you’re good to go.
Please read FAQ s: “I have health
issues, can I still participate?” below if you have further concerns.
Q:
What should I wear?
Regular
workout gear is fine, such as capris, shorts or yoga style pants with a t-shirt
or tank top. No footwear is
required or permitted --- SalsaDancercise is commonly done in bare feet, just
as in yoga, kickboxing, belly or Latin folkloric dancing.
(If you
have a medical condition that requires you wear something on your feet, then
the following conditions apply: Workout sneakers will be permitted only if they
are fitted with suede dance-shoe sole material. They must also be flat soled
only (no raised heals or split sole design), and, they must never have been
worn outside the SalsaDancercise facility).
Q: What sort of intensity
are the SalsaDancercise® classes?
A: SalsaDancercise is a low to high
in intensity activity that allows you to go at a pace you personally feel most
comfortable with or challenged by. You can go at your own pace and build up as
gradually or as challenging as you desire. From a safety perspective, always
remember, it is important to be aware of your body and your physical
capabilities in any physical activity at any one time. You can take comfort in
knowing that in SalsaDancercise you go at a pace you personally feel most
comfortable with.
Q: I have health issues,
can I still participate?
A: Safety during any physical
activity is very important, so make sure your doctor supports your
participation in SalsaDancercise. Consult with your doctor before participating
in any physical activity.

to a new environment and joining an activity that is new me, not knowing anyone
